The most powerful safety app for today’s world. Download Citizen to feel safer at home or out. Get real-time safety alerts and live video of incidents happening near you, updates on natural disasters or protests, and know if your loved ones are near a dangerous incident. Plus, 24/7 access to a trained Protect Agent who can help whenever you feel unsafe. Citizen notifications have urged people to evacuate burning buildings, deterred school buses from nearby terrorist attacks and have even led to a rescue of a 1-year-old from a stolen car. Citizen may notify you of a crime in progress before the police have responded. It's meant to protect you and your community — please use it responsibly. NEW! 24/7 access to a trained Protect Agent who can discreetly help, silently monitor your live location and audio, alert other users, call 911, monitor heart rate through your apple watch and more. No situation too big or small. See friends on your Safety Map: Know their safety status at a glance and find out if (and when) they are near a dangerous incident in real-time. You can turn on Ghost Mode to keep your location private at any time. Real-time Safety Alerts: Location-based notifications help you avoid potentially dangerous situations. Live Breaking Video: Watch live video of an incident unfold from different angles or broadcast live from the scene. Keep Your Community Safe: Report incidents right when they happen to protect the people around you In case of emergencies, Citizen also offers the Protect subscription to help protect you and your loved ones. Back when this app first came out there was more freedom for the user to be in touch with the whereabouts and the happenings in your immediate vicinity. I recently open it up, I’m asked to pay for even the smallest interaction with this app. Yall wanna charge us for being safe in our area? CLOWNS I’d rather have ads popping up every 5 minutes than PAY FOR A MEMBERSHIP TO GET THE FULL DETAILS OF THE CRIME REPORTED.

“Hey watch out for this guy but I’m not going to show you what he looks like unless you pay”

The free version is ok. Only ok. It gives basic info about incidents in specific areas as chosen by the user- typically user’s current location. One big beef I have is they want users to upgrade in order to get info about registered sex offenders in the area. The app points out their registered addresses with icons, but then makes user upgrade to get name, address, and photo. This is like airlines charging parents extra to have their own children sit by them on the plane. Insane. Plus. Finding info online about registered offenders is free. The app charges for free information. People, find that info free: simply search online “registered sex offenders in ______ county.” Make apps like this work hard for $ that you have worked hard to earn!

Used to love this app but they make you pay for EVERYTHING now. It’s almost completely useless. SMH a shame what greed has done.

It’s fine, just keeps telling me twice a day that an offender is registered in my area, and it gives the wrong name. Useless and annoying

This app was originally quite useful and entertaining when you first install it. Even without paying for a subscription, you will get many alerts in the first two months. As you go into the third and fourth month, your alerts will start coming in more infrequently and it will request you to start subscribing for more detail on the alerts. By the six month, you will stop getting alerts and if you do, they are usually useless ones with simple “police activity reported”. My friend who lives about 5 miles away from me will send me screenshots of alerts on something occurring close in my area off of his phone however, I don’t get the same alert as him. He also does not pay for a subscription. So, unless you pay, this app is not very helpful and I am not sure how reliable and legit it really is.

Why would you have to pay to find out what’s going on around you?

When the app first came out it was lovable. Now it’s all about money which is funny because they want you to “help” the community by uploading videos but then want to charge a subscription to see the video or hear the 911 calls. If you’re going to charge for a subscription why not pay the people that are uploading these videos for your personal gain. If you’re not going to pay for people uploading the videos then let the public use this app for free.

This app is great for updates on your area, but the comments need moderation. There is so much misinformation, trolling, and spam. More than 80% of the comments are either spam or bots. Citizen has a monthly subscription so they should make enough money to hire moderators for popular posts and it should be a priority considering the app deals with so many sensitive topics and events. I’d give this app 5 stars if they would put more effort into blocking these comments.
